The event “In-House Aligners Workshop” was organized by the Department of Orthodontics, SRM Dental College, Ramapuram for the Post Graduate students on the 9th & 10th of December 2024. The evolution of digital dentistry in modern orthodontics has increasingly incorporated clear aligners as a key treatment tool. Hence, this workshop provided opportunity for the students to gain a sound knowledge about how to integrate in-house aligners into practice, the investments in hardware and software that must be made and the basic steps in the manufacturing of in-house aligners.
About the Speakers
Dr. K. Balaji is a distinguished orthodontist with extensive experience in the Orthodontic field. He earned both his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 1996 and his Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) in Orthodontics in 2002 from Ragas Dental College and Hospital. Throughout his career, Dr. Balaji has held several academic positions and he is currently the Head of Department of Orthodontics, Tagore Dental College. Dr Balaji K is a renowned person in this field who has been invited as a keynote speaker for many aligner programs and has also conducted several aligner workshops all over India.

Outcome and Feedback
On the whole, the workshop successfully combined education and skill-building setting a high standard for future initiatives and also ensured that the message reached the students reinforcing the importance of aligners in an interactive manner. It highlighted the students’ basic understanding of aligners in orthodontics and served as a platform for them to engage in meaningful discussions on the importance of application of aligners.
