The department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, SRM Dental College was started in the year 1998. The post graduate course was introduced in the year 2005 with 5 PG students which was increased to 8 postgraduate students in the year 2009.

The department has fully air-conditioned , spacious clinical area, seminar hall , department library, photography room, PG pre clinical lab and Minor OT. A General hospital with 100 beds, hi-tech operating theatre complex and ICU is part of the surgery department which caters to every need of patients.

The department has state of art dental chairs exclusively for the postgraduates as well as minor operating theatre within the department with all latest equipments for clinical practice. There is a department library which has about 130 books and articles on various topics for quick reference.
