SESSION AGENDA
The event “National Orthodontic Day 2024” was organized by the Department of Orthodontics,SRM Dental College, Ramapuram for the Post Graduate students as part of the National Orthodontic week celebrations. This was marked by a series of events aimed at increasing awareness about Orthodontics. The event provided an opportunity for students to showcase their creative and informative skills on various topics related to orthodontics.
EVENT OVERVIEW
1.Awareness Lecture : The program included a series of awareness lectures delivered by esteemed Orthodontists from Chennai. These sessions provided insights into contemporary Orthodontics and the importance of early intervention catering to an increased consciousness and understanding about orthodontic treatment needs.
2.Screening for 1st year undergraduate students : A screening program was organised for the first year undergraduate students to increase orthodontic awareness and promote oral health.
3.Ortho Charades : In keeping with the interactive theme, the event also featured Ortho Charades which combined learning with entertainment. The teams enacted various orthodontic terms and scenarios, making complex concepts easier to grasp for students.
4.Pin the Bracket : This was another highlight, adding an element of fun while emphasizing the precision required in orthodontic practice. This activity not only tested participants’ technical skills but also helped the audience appreciate the intricacies of placing orthodontic brackets.
5.Lucky Draw: A unique touch was added through lucky draw, ensuring that attendees remained engaged and excited throughout the event.
6.Poster competition on orthodontic awareness : To further promote the cause, a Poster Competition on Orthodontic Awareness invited participants to visually represent key messages about orthodontic health and treatments. The creative posters effectively communicated important information related to orthodontic treatment needs leaving a lasting impact on the audience.
The winners received certificates of appreciation along with prizes. The winning posters were also displayed prominently in the department display board for the remembrance of the celebration.
Outcome and Feedback
Overall, the Orthodontic awareness programs successfully combined education and skill-building setting a high standard for future initiatives and also ensured the message reached the audience, reinforcing the importance of orthodontic care and spreading awareness in a fun, interactive manner. It highlighted the students’ enthusiasm, creativity, and understanding of orthodontics and served as a platform for them to engage in meaningful discussions on the importance of orthodontic care.
