The SRM Dental college has a Quality Policy and implements Quality Systems to become a World Class Institution. It strives to impart quality education and skill sets to the students.
The annual intake of students in the institution is 100 for UG course and 54 students for PG program. The college boasts a hospital set up of both dental out patients and general medical and surgical in & out patients, including a 100 bedded hospital with the latest facilities.
The faculty of the college consists of experienced and highly qualified teachers in various speciality of dentistry. The college has excellent infrastructure and abundant patient inflow in the OP, with 486 dental chairs, state of art equipments and smart class rooms, and well equipped laboratories.
As a Post Graduate institution, the college excels in carrying out numerous research activities. To encourage research activities in the Institution and to impose quality and standards to the research work done, the college has a Scientific Committee, with its members as eminent people from various fields. In order to review the ethical issues which might arise in research proposals in the health and biomedical fields, an Ethical Committee has been functioning in the college. To improve the understanding between students, their parents and the various departments and the college, an Academic Cell has been serving to mediate between them. The college has an anti-ragging policy in accordance with the ACT No. 7 of 1997 passed by the Tamil Nadu Government in the Legislative Assembly that prohibits ragging within or outside the institution and makes ragging punishable under Law.
The college publishes a peer reviewed Journal named SRM JOURNAL OF RESEARCH IN DENTAL SCIENCES.SRM journal of research in dental sciences is a peer reviewed journal which is published quarterly. It aims to create a platform for researchers to publish their findings and by being a base where knowledge can be shared. We have published 32 CONSECUTIVE ISSUES so far and the journal is registered with the following abstracting partners:CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), EBSCO Publishing’s Electronic Databases, Exlibris – Primo Central, Google Scholar, Hinari, Infotrieve, Journal Guide, National Science Library, OpenJGate, ProQuest, TdNet, Index Copernicus, Indian Science Abstracts. The journal has an advisory board with internationally acclaimed membersand shortly to be indexed with PUB-MED
The college has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with other universities for sharing and exchange of ideas, information, staff and students. SRM Dental college has entered into an MOU with Pushpagiri Medical Society, Tiruvalla, Kerala, which is a premium institution actively involved in various research activities in promising areas of medicine concerning stem cells, tissue engineering and biomaterials. Our journal SRM Journal of Research in dental sciences has signed an MOU with Medknow publications, Mumbai. Medknow Publications is the largest open access publisher publishing on behalf of learned societies and associations. It has a learning curve of 12 years and management of 179 print + online journals. They are pioneers and have an experience unmatched by other publishers in the world in open access journal publishing. They have collaborations with other subscription, bibliographic and secondary aggregating agencies,. This collaboration increases the visibility and accessibility of the published papers across the world.
