EVENT TOPIC: Digital Smile Design- A skill development programme for aesthetic smile correction

BRIEF REPORT:

A webinar titled “Digital Smile Design” was conducted on 22.07.2021 by the Dept of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, SRM Dental College, Ramapuram. A meticulous planning and execution of the webinar involved an explicit lecture by Dr. Mithun Jith, who gave a keynote on Digital smile design. Digital smile design is the go-to option for aesthetic smile correction for patients who do not wish to undergo orthodontic treatments and have mild correctable dental issues like discolouration of teeth or mismatch of size of the teeth. The concept of digital smile design was explained in details. Various softwares available that can aid dental practitioners to use smile design on a day-to-day basis were also discussed. A demonstration on how to utilize digital technology for smile designing was given to the delegates. A total of 230 delegates had registered for the program.

RESOURCE PERSON

Dr. K. Mithunjith, graduated his BDS and MDS in Conservative dentistry and Endodontics from Mahatma Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Dental Sciences, Puducherry. He is currently a Reader at Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, Puducherry. He has received the “Clinical Excellence Award” for the year 2018 from IACDE. He has many publications under his credit that have been published in renowned national as well as international journals. He has delivered keynote lectures and hands on courses at major national conferences on digital smile design and the art of dental photography. He has also conducted many modules of handson courses on ceramic laminates.
