Event Description:               

 We, the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, SRMDC, Ramapuram have conducted 7-day online faculty development programme (FDP) aptly titled, ‘Training The trainers’ between 18.01.23 to 25.01.23 under the aegis of Indian Association of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics (IACDE). This program facilitates the teachers in understanding, guiding, and preparing them in their journey of under and post graduate teaching and curriculum, especially for youngsters just entering the shoes of a teacher. The resource faculties included renowned academicians from across the nation culminating with a panel discussion on the last day of the program, moderated by Dr.S.Mahalaxmi. 160+ faculty members from all over the country participated with enthusiasm, with experienced teachers sharing their views and new teachers benefitting from the entire process. The organising team comprising Dr.S.Mahalaxmi,

Dr.K.Rajkumar, Dr.K.Karthikeyan,  Dr.S.Vidhya, Dr.M.Madhana Madhubala, Dr.B.Saravana Karthikeyan, Dr.H.Srujana, Dr.V.V.PremKumar worked very hard to bring about this program, which received widespread appreciation from many quarters. The recordings of the week-long FDP program (with 21 DCI points) will be uploaded in the department YouTube channel, that can benefit many more teachers in the days to come.

Dr. Sanjay Tewari – Dr. Sanjay Tewari, Professor & HoD of the Department of Conservative dentistry & Endodontics, Dean of Post graduate Institute of Dental Sciences, Rohtak is an excellent clinician and an enthusiastic academician. Sir has received Gold Medal for being the Best House Surgeon at K.G’s medical College Lucknow. He has numerous publications in high impact factor journals.

Dr. Meena N- Dr N Meena is a former Professor & Head of the Department of Conservative &

Endodontics in V.S. Dental College, Bangalore. She is a PhD guide in Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka. She also holds Masters Fellowship in Micro Endodontics. She has many publications in National and International journals to her credit and has reviewed and authored chapters in textbooks. She has delivered lectures in many forums.

Dr. Sarjeev Singh Yadav – Dr. Sarjeev Singh Yadav, Professor & Head of the Dept at GDC&H, Hyderabad, is teacher par excellence, guide, mentor as well as a clinician. In a career spanning over more than two & half long decades, he achieved several distinctions as a UG, PG, and Ph.D. examiner and paper setter of various universities at India and abroad. He has a good understanding in problems in dental education & administration and loves to think of easy and creative solutions for the same.

Dr. Girija Sajjan- Dr. Girija , Professor & Head of the Dept at Vishnu Dental College has 25 years of UG and PG teaching experiences and has guided over 50 postgraduate research projects. She has numerous publications to her credit She is proficient with Microscopic Dentistry and is a Course Director of Academy of  Microscopic Dentistry Vishnu Dental College. She is the member and Chairman of Board of Studies – Pg Dr NTR University of Health Sciences Vijayawada.

Dr. Mamta Kaushik- Dr. Mamta Kaushik, Professor & Head of the Dept at Dr. Mamta KaushikArmy College of Dental Sciences, Secunderabad, has more than 20 years of experience as a clinician, an undergraduate and post graduate teacher, development leader, and administrator. She has a keen academician with numerous national and international publications to her credit. She is the Founder Editor for the IACDE newsletter Pins and Posts and, Founder Administrator for the  National Clinical Registry for Root Canal Anatomy. As the future unfolds, her unwavering vision is to bring education and learning as an art form which should bring up the name and standing of the Nation in areas of Research and Quality Dental Care.

Dr. Nimisha Shah – Currently a professor & the Head of the Dept. at K. M. Shah Dental College & Hospital. She has 24 years of teaching experience, as well as academic credentials like a recognised PG and PhD advisor, 55 publications, 3 patent applications as inventor, 5 copy rights, etc. She received the Journal of Conservative Dentistry’s “Best Original Research Award of 2015” and Endodontology’s “Best Clinical Research Award” in 2021

Dr. Paromita Mazumdar – Dr Paromita Mazumdar, Professor & Head of the Dept at Guru Nanak Institute of Dental Sciences and Research is an academician and clinician par excellence. She has been a PG guide since 15 years and has 63 original research publications in indexed journals, presents oral scientific papers at various platforms and  is a reviewer for various national & international journals.

Dr. Ruchika Roongta Nawal – Dr. Ruchika is presently working as Professor Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, New Delhi. She has  contributed both as an academician and a clinician in the field of endodontics, with astute meticulousness over the past 16 years. Dr Ruchika, is the CEO and Principal Investigator for India’s first “Dental Technology  Innovation Hub” in New Delhi.

Dr. Shalini Aggarwal – Dr. Shalini Aggarwal with 24 years  of experience  has been a consultant with several leading practitioners in and around Pune. In addition to being an astute clinician, she is a Professor at the Dr.D.Y.Patil Dental College . She is actively involved in research and has several research papers to her credit.  Dr. Shalini is the co-ordinator of the Dental Education unit at her college and loves to develop and introduce innovations that enhance the teaching – learning processes.

Dr. Vasudev Ballal – Dr. Ballal, MDS, PhD, upholds the position of Professor. He is an ardent  researcher who has received several accolades across the globe for his research collaborations and expertise in the field. He upholds the position of editor and reviewer in top notch endodontic journals and has been awarded top reviewer awards several times. Dr. Ballal has 150 international publications and 25 national publications to his credit

Dr. Krithika Datta – Dr. Krithika Datta, Professor & Head of Departments of Cariology and Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, was the Associate Editor of Journal of Conservative

Dentistry from 2008 to 2015. She has been honoured with several awards and accolades such as  Young Achiever award by CEAT. She is passionate about research and her area of interest is Cariology. She is a member of the European Organization for Caries Research (ORCA) since 2010.

She is the first Indian to be elected as an Advisory Council Member of the ORCA Board in 2022.

Dr. Shivasakthy M – Dr. Shivasakthy M, Professor, Dept of Prosthodontic, Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Puducherry  is a recognized academician & researcher. She has over 40 publications, 1 granted patent, 8 published patents, 29 copyrights & has contributed in 5 training manuals on palliative care for Medical offices. Her key areas of expertise & consultancy include Health Professions Education, Choice Based Credit System, National Education Policy, Intellectual Property Rights, Prosthodontics &  Palliative Care.

Dr. Praveen Rajesh – Dr. Praveen Rajesh, MDS, MEndoRCS Ed (UK), Reader, Dept Cons and Endo, IGIDS, SBV University is a passionate Endodontist who loves to practice and preach evidence based Endodontics. He has special interest in separated file retrieval and dental photography. His new patent allows manufacturing of an indigenous broken instrument retrieval device. He has numerous publications and book chapters in his credit. He is a recipient of various clinical excellence awards by IACDE and Famdent.

Dr. Mahalaxmi S – Dr. Mahalaxmi completed her graduation and post-graduation in Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics in the year 1986 from Govt. Dental College, Ahmadabad. She is currently heading the department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics at SRM Dental College, Chennai for the past 16 years. She has more than 120 publications to her credit, majority in indexed, high impact factor journals, with a h-index of 21 and i10 index of 35. She has authored a text book titled “Materials used in Dentistry”, published by Wolters Kluwer India, which is highly acclaimed by faculty and students all over the country, and also adopted as the standard textbook for Dental Materials subject in many institutions.
