The SRM Dental College, Ramapuram was started in the year 1996-97. The annual intake of students in this institution is 100 for UG course and 54 for PG Programmes. This institution is one of the fast developing colleges that has earned a name for itself in a short span since its inception. Among all the colleges in India, SRM Dental College was the first college to get a deemed university status in the year 2002. For the last 3 years SRM Dental College has been rated by Outlook magazine as one of the best fifteen dental colleges in India and the best in Tamil Nadu. SRM Dental College was rated by Outlook magazine as the 10th best dental college in India and the best dental college in Tamilnadufor the year 2013.

SRM Dental College has an infrastructure of around 4.74lakhs square feet of building and laboratories that cater to all the needs of aspiring students as per the norms of Dental Council of India. The college has its own hospital setup of both Dental out patients and General Medical & Surgical in and out patients, including a 100 bedded in patient hospital with all necessary facilities & faculties.The faculty of the college consists of experienced and well-qualified teachers of various specialties in dentistry who are well known among their peers.

The students are provided with hands-on training in all aspects of dental health care under the able supervision of the faculty. The college has excellent infrastructure with more than 486 dental chairs, 124 PHANTOM HEAD MANIKINS, state of the art class rooms and well equipped laboratories.
